Mandatory Training Courses
What’s involved:
A designated full-time permanent employee must take prescribed training offered by the Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA). The training is conducted to help the employer understand and commit to the program, and for the full-time employee to become the companies designated Internal Auditor. Mandatory courses that must be successfully completed include.
- Health and Safety System Building (HSSB) | 3 days
- Fundamentals of Auditing | 2 days
- COR Auditor | 2 days

Course Description
Learning: Three days in class
The Health and Safety System Building HSSB course is the first step to achieving your Trucking Industry Certificate of Recognition (COR) through the Saskatchewan Trucking Association and endorsed by Mission Zero WorkSafe Saskatchewan. This comprehensive and challenging course is designed to guide and assist safety personnel in the development and implementation of a Health and Safety System.
Who Should Take This Course
Small Employers (1-10 employees) – Safety personnel
Large Employers (11 or more employees) – Business owner or employee responsible for administering the company’s Health & Safety program

Once successfully completed, there are no re-certification requirements for the Health and Safety Program Building course, unless there are significant changes to OHS legislation.

Fundamentals of Auditing
Course Description
Learning: Two days in class
This course provides an introductory overview of the auditing process. Health and Safety System Building or Health and Safety Program Building is required to enrolling in this course. This course serves as the Pre-requisite to both COR Auditor.

COR Auditor
Course Description
Learning: Two days in class
Please note that this is also the course designated for the COR Auditor Re-Certification.
This second day of this course includes an in-class (or takeaway) case-study that must be completed within 7 days of the course. While the case-study is mandatory for all, the second day attendance of the course is only mandatory to those who are taking this instance of COR Auditor for the first time.
The Student Certification Audit must be completed after the Case Study and within 90 days of the first day in class to receive COR Auditor certification.
This course is designed for large employers who have completed the Health and Safety System Building (HSSB) course and wish to obtain COR Auditor Status. COR auditing carries on from Fundamentals of Auditing and specifically focuses on the COR audit process. This course examines the requirements of a COR auditor and outlines the steps of the COR audit process.

Instructional Design and Delivery
Course Description
Learning: Three days in class
Instructional Design and Delivery (IDD) appeals to entry-level and intermediate instructors looking to develop or enhance their existing course development and delivery skills. Participants will be introduced to a variety of tools and techniques to develop meaningful training and add value to the classroom experience.
Course Content
This is a 3-day classroom-based course delivered through a series of lectures and hands-on (practical) activities and exercises. Participants will practice the material through several presentations and be offered coaching and feedback designed to improve their confidence and performance as instructors.

Who should take this course?
- IDD will be beneficial to individuals tasked with planning, delivering, and/or evaluating training including employees involved in safety, human resources, and operations.
- This course will benefit individuals with responsibilities or accountabilities related to training and/or HR functions within their organization.
- This course is required of all individuals seeking the Certified Transportation Safety (CTSP) designation. This course is also critical for persons tasked with the training and/or evaluation of learning within their organization.
