Annual General Meeting & Gala Awards Banquet
Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Delta Marriott Regina, 1919 Saskatchewan Drive, Regina
The STA Annual General Meeting is a gathering of the Membership to cover the year's events, financials and elect new Board Members for the coming fiscal year (STA Fiscal Year is July 1 – June 30). The AGM is an opportunity for new Members to meet the Board of Directors, elect individuals to stand for board service and interact with other Member companies.
The Association takes the opportunity presented by the gathering of Members to offer presentations on current industry issues, often by industry professionals, panels or policy-makers. Recent presentations at the AGM included: The Legalization of Marijuana, the effect of ELDs on the trucking industry, the Future of Trucking, policymaker-stakeholder Q & A sessions and Changes to Carrier Profiles, presented by SGI.
The 2017 AGM was held in Regina on October 21, 2017. The STA voted three new Board Members onto the STA Board of Directors (visit board page here) from three Member companies. Reg Quiring was elected as the new Board Chair and the past Board Chair, Graham Newton was presented with a gift and a thank you for the work done during his time as Chair.
Newcom Media hosted a Future of Trucking panel discussion that focused on how to attract millennials, developing technologies and closing the driver supply gap.
The Members were also provided a presentation by Meghan McCreary of MLT Lawyers, who discussed the effect incoming marijuana legislation will have on companies employing truck drivers, complete with suggestions on how companies can protect themselves.
The 2018 Annual General Meeting will be held in Saskatoon on October 27, 2018. Check back nearer to the date for full registration details.
