Practical Cargo Securement for Drivers – Cargo Van

Cargo vans are widely used across the trucking and delivery industry, but they present unique challenges when it comes to safely loading and securing freight. The Practical Cargo Securement for Drivers – Cargo Van course provides drivers with the essential skills and knowledge needed to prevent cargo shifting, damage, and safety hazards during transport.

This training follows the North American Cargo Securement Standard and is based on Techni-Com’s respected Practical Cargo Securement manual. Drivers will learn the securement principles necessary to keep loads stable, maintain vehicle control, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

 

Course Content

As a Trucking Company you have a regulated obligation both federally and provincial through OH&S to have training on safety related investigations. The Fundamentals of Investigation course meets these requirements. This 2-day course introduces a variety of basic investigative skills required to conduct basic occupational health and safety-related investigations.
Understanding basic cargo securement principles

  • Proper loading patterns and weight distribution for cargo vans
  • Techniques to prevent shifting, tipping, or rolling freight
  • Using barriers, straps, nets, and internal anchor points effectively
  • Working load limits and securement equipment selection
  • Pre-trip and en-route inspection procedures specific to cargo vans
  • Best practices for preventing cargo damage and enhancing driver safety
