CTSP Designation Overview
The Certified Transportation Safety Professional (CTSP) is a specialist-level designation that establishes the benchmark for the experience and knowledge required to be a certified safety professional. This individual will receive the skills needed to develop and manage a carrier’s safety and compliance programs, and will often supervise the day-to-day functions of others in the organization.
All the courses identified will develop the candidate’s ability to demonstrate the required competencies, through the completion of 8 mandatory, 3 electives, and 8 hours of seminar/conference attendance, resulting in eligibility to challenge the CTSP Exam.

Registration Requirements
There are currently 3 requirements to obtaining the CTSP designation:
- Successful registration within the CTSP designation program
- Successful completion of the coursework requirements
- Successful completion of the comprehensive knowledge exam
To be accepted into the CTSP Designation Program, the applicant must possess the necessary pre-requisite experience. Experience must be (1) in the safety or compliance field, (2) at a professional level, (3) for a cumulative duration of three years, and (4) acquired within the previous 7 years.
Pre-Requisite Experience
- 3 years of professional experience in an occupational health and safety role, or
- 3 years of professional experience in a commercial fleet compliance role, and
- Completion of Certified Transportation Safety Coordinator (CTSC), completion of post- secondary education (certificates a/o diploma), High School Diploma, or jurisdictionally recognized equivalency (GED)

Mandatory
Candidates are required to fulfill course-by-course requirements. Upon successful completion of 8 mandatory, 3 electives, and 8 hours of seminar/conference attendance you are eligible for sitting in the CTSP Exam.
The following eight courses are mandatory:
Legislation, Standards and Policies (LSP)
The analysis and interpretation of transportation safety legislation, standards, and policy.
2 Days Classroom Equivalent
National Safety Code Program Administration (NSC-A)
NSC Program Administration is task and objective focused, evaluating how to accomplish compliance through action in an existing program.
3 Days
National Safety Code Program Management (NSC-M)
NSC Program Management delves into the purpose of management systems, the benefits of active management as opposed to reactionary management, and concepts surrounding the creation of systems to manage programs.
2 Days
Health and Safety System Building (HSSB)
The Saskatchewan Trucking Association and it’s board recognized the importance of industry relevant training for safety practitioners.
3 Day Classroom Equivalent
Fundamentals of Auditing (FOA)

2 Days Classroom Equivalent
Leadership in Transportation (LIT)
The analysis and interpretation of transportation safety legislation, standards, and policy.

Instructional Design and Delivery (IDD)
Instructional Design and Delivery is an essential course for entry-level and intermediate instructors looking to enhance their existing skills, learn new techniques, and bring increased value to their training programs.
3 Days
Elective
Complete 3 electives to be eligible for the CTSP Exam. The following courses are electives to choose from:
PDIC & LCV Instructor Training
This course is only availablle for STA members.
2 Days
CoR Auditor (COR-A)
This course is designed for individuals who have completed the Health and Safety System Building (HSSB) and Fundamentals of Auditing (FOA) course and wish to obtain an Internal COR Auditor Status for their respective employer.
2 Days Classroom Equivalent
Collision Investigation
This course introduces collision investigation to individuals working in Saskatchewan’s commercial transportation industry.
