Canadian Trucking Alliance Transportation of Dangerous Goods by Truck Handbook is Available now!

What's new this year:

The Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act (TDGA) and Regulations (TDGR) and specific regulatory text have been amended several times since the last edition of the Handbook. The new handbook covers all of these changes and more including the following highlights:

  • Updated information from Schedules 1 & 2 of the regulations (contained in tables 1 & 2 of the handbook) which reflect all the amendments as well as some additional dangerous goods that are included in the current UN recommendations (with new UN #’s) but not yet included in the TDGR.
    • Schedule 1 provides vital details of the more than 3500 named and UN#’d dangerous goods, including class, packing group, any applicable special provisions or limited quantities as well as thresholds for Emergency Response Assistance Plans (ERAP).
    • Schedule 2 provides details of the 160+ unique special provisions that apply to a host of named and UN#’d dangerous goods.
  • Information on the new registration database called Client Identification Database (CID) for persons or organizations involved in activities and operations where dangerous goods are involved in Canada. Registration is required by October 2024, and the new section will help users determine if they are required to register and where they can get additional resources from Transport Canada.
  • The recently published 2024 Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG), will ensure that users of the book have access to the most recent emergency response guidelines and information applicable North America-wide.
