Reg Quiring Announced as Recipient of the STA Omnitracs Service to Industry Award
Oct 31, 2024
The STA Omnitracs Service to Industry Award recognizes leaders who have made exceptional contributions to the trucking industry in Saskatchewan. It awarded to individuals who have spent countless decades in the industry and assisted in propelling Saskatchewan’s trucking industry forward.
A Legacy of Leadership and Impact
Starting Q-Line in 1994 with his brother Russ, Reg Quiring transformed the company from a modest two-truck operation into a leading transportation provider across North America. Through his determination and forward-thinking vision, Q-Line grew to employ over 500 individuals and became a vital link in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and public infrastructure. Reg has championed values-driven business growth, steering Q-Line to uphold high standards of safety, sustainability, and community involvement.
A core tenet of Reg’s success is his "drivers first" mindset, focusing on driver well-being and industry professionalism. Through efforts like implementing E-logs and in-cab safety cameras, he has prioritized safe and efficient practices that protect drivers and improve the overall operation. Reg has not only maintained low driver turnover rates—an impressive 20% in an industry where higher rates are common—but also fostered a culture that retains loyalty and encourages long-term careers.
Commitment Beyond Business
Reg’s influence extends far beyond his role at Q-Line. He has served as a Board Member, former President of the Saskatchewan Trucking Association, and is actively involved with the Canadian Trucking Alliance. Through these roles, he has advocated for policies that benefit drivers and promote sustainable business practices, impacting the industry nationwide.
His dedication to community welfare is also notable. Q-Line actively supports various causes, reflecting Reg’s belief in using business success to benefit the community. Beyond corporate sponsorships, Reg and his wife, Charlene, have contributed personally to initiatives like the Friendship Inn, local food banks, and the Sisterhood organization, which empowers women across Saskatchewan. Together, they provide for families in need, support educational opportunities, and advocate for community-based assistance, demonstrating a commitment to creating positive change.
Humble Philanthropy and Personal Connection
Those who work closely with Reg often speak to his compassion, humility, and genuine desire to help others. Many of his charitable acts are quiet and personal—whether supporting employees through illness, offering bursaries for aspiring students, or helping families in need during the holidays. Through these efforts, Reg has impacted countless lives, underscoring the notion that leadership goes beyond business success to encompass real care for people.
A Deserving Honoree
As we celebrate Reg Quiring’s achievements, it’s clear why he is an ideal recipient of the Service to Industry Award. His unwavering commitment to Q-Line, the Saskatchewan Trucking Association, and the broader trucking community has set a high bar for industry standards. Reg’s influence continues to shape the industry, elevate drivers' roles, and provide a positive example of values-led leadership.
Congratulations to Reg Quiring on this well-deserved recognition. His enduring impact on the trucking industry and dedication to service inspire all of us to drive forward with purpose and compassion.
