The Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program provides a practical funding stream through THRC’s Career ExpressWay program. This new injection of funding will cover 335 work placements starting in the 2025 spring and summer academic terms, until March 2026. THRC is a trusted delivery partner of the Government of Canada.
“The Career ExpressWay program enables employers in our sector to attract and recruit the talent needed for all roles,” says Craig Faucette, Chief Program Officer, Trucking HR Canada. “Over the past few years, employers have been incredibly successful using this stream of Career ExpressWay to bolster staffing and introduce a new generation to trucking and logistics as an attractive, progressive career option.”
To date, the Student Work Placement stream has helped 314 companies across the country provide meaningful employment for 1,465 students, exposing them to the wide variety of non-driving roles in our sector. Under the program, employers are provided with grants for the cost of hiring students — up to $7,000 per student — so they can provide valuable work-integrated learning opportunities.
THRC facilitates the program through partnerships with over 125 post-secondary institutions.
Our role as a trusted, reliable partner with a track record of results means students in transportation, logistics and supply chain-related programs at those institutions have unparalleled access to real-life training opportunities.
Employers benefit from reduced hiring costs while building a new talent pool.
This new funding will support continued program growth, ensuring a continuous pipeline of talent needed to fill all labour needs within the industry.
THRC continues to work with government, educational institutions and industry to support the ongoing labour needs of trucking and logistics companies nation-wide.
This project is funded by the Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program.
