Trucking HR Canada’s CEO named to C.D. Howe Institute’s Human Capital Policy Council
Jun 14, 2022
Ottawa, ON (June 13, 2022), Trucking HR Canada today announced its CEO, Angela Splinter, has been invited to join the C.D. Howe Institute’s Human Capital Policy Council.
As one of Canada’s most influential think-tanks - The C.D. Howe Institute is a trusted source of essential policy intelligence. Their Human Capital Policy Council is composed of leading experts from the public sector, business, and academia. Council members work to support and advise the Institute’s work on current labour market issues.
“Supply chain resiliency and the role of truck transportation remains a top priority”, says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “As human capital challenges continue to receive increased attention from policy makers, business and the general public - this opportunity to provide sector specific insights to the work of the institute will support broader policy that recognizes the HR challenges in our sector”.
Trucking HR Canada’s recent labour market information confirms that the industry continues to have the second highest vacancy rate (8%) in the country, compared to 5.4% across the economy. With the total number of vacant driver jobs sitting at just over 22,000, a historic high since Statistics Canada began tracking vacancies in 2015, the driver shortage remains a key business issue impacting every key economic sector (Special Report: Vacancies in Trucking and Logistics – January 2022).
