Job Description

Are you a self starter? Do you like to build from the ground up? Do you want to put in the efforts and reap the rewards?

Ghost Transportation Services is looking for a Manitoba Operations and Business Development Manager based in Winnipeg.  What does that mean? It means we are looking for someone to run our current operations, seize opportunities and profitably grow our presence and business.

Thomas Edison said “Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.” This is not a Monday to Friday, 8-5 job. Somedays it is a 10-2 job, others a 7-7. It is about doing what is necessary, when it is necessary in order to be successful. Work Smart, then hard if needed.

We are looking for someone that can wear a business suit one day and a pair of coveralls the next. Someone that can and is willing to run a forklift and broom along with pen, paper and laptop. An individual that can talk to corporate big wigs and the mom and pop shop down the street. Someone that is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get their hands dirty.

So what do we need?

You have to lead and manage staff. Hire, fire, train, discipline, mentor, develop.

You have to understand nickels and dimes along with hundred dollar bills.

We need you to be serious when required and crack a joke when the time is right.

We need someone that is respectful, considerate and self aware of their own shortfalls.

You have to figure out processes, appreciate their need and know when to go outside of them, and take the heat for doing so.

You have to deal with current customers, grow their business and develop new business.

You have to work with other Ghost branches to create opportunity and grow other business.

You have to look at things in a new way, do things we haven’t done before and not be afraid to screw up.

Because you will.

You have to be willing to learn and grow yourself.

And computer skills are necessary. It is 2024, but wow, there are still a lot of people who don’t know how email works or can’t remember their password.

Benefits?

Yes we are willing to pay you for this. We even have a health plan.

And we want you to have fun doing this. Every day may not be a glorious event, but overall, it will be a good time.

If you have read this posting and thought “This is absurd, I can’t believe they made a posting like this, I would never apply here!”, then good it worked.  We wouldn’t have hired you anyway. It’s you, not us.

But if you read this and think “I can make a go of this!” then apply.  If you truly can do the job. Because we will find out.
